KEEPING THINGS COOL
2015 FOUR WINDS
This Four Winds motorhome is built on an F550 chassis and is powered by a 6.7L Powerstroke diesel, so it has the power to take Paul where ever he wants to go while flat towing his Jeep. However, trying to leave Phoenix in the summer months was a challenge as it would come close to overheating. After an inspection we found nothing wrong mechanically but noticed a major design flaw. The manufacturer installed a customer painted bumper cover which looked nice, but it completely blocked a cut out in the factory bumper that allows much needed air flow through the cooling stack. With the engine working hard all the time it needs all the cool air it can get.
After the bumper cover was removed we saw a decent drop in engine and transmission fluid temperatures. To take it a step further and improve on the factory design we installed our Driven Diesel transmission cooler kit and a Bullet Proof Diesel engine oil cooler. We also installed an S&B air intake to give it a bump in power. Now that it has quality upgrades in cooling he can take tow his Jeep, all of his gear and the kitchen sink while running cool.
